School Year 2020-21

School Year 2020-21

July 20, 2020

Dear Best Academy Parents:

I sincerely hope and pray that all of our Best Academy families and friends are staying safe and healthy during this challenging time for everyone.

At Best Academy, we continue to value the health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and families as our top priority. In response to this ongoing pandemic situation with COVID-19, we have been diligently working to create new innovative means of educating our children and adapt to the changing learning environment. As a result of this effort, we have come up with three concrete options for our students and parents for this upcoming school year and beyond.

Fairfax Global Academy: online

Fairfax Global Academy is the sister school of Best Academy, recently accredited as a full-time virtual private school by Cognia/AdvancEd. FGA is opening its door in Fall 2020, with the uncompromising belief that all of our students can and will achieve exceptional scholastic accomplishment in an online setting. We continue to implement our vision by offering progressive, challenging curricula for our students, and by working with the most nurturing, reputable, and accomplished teachers. FGA is a full-day private school where students can earn credits toward their high school diploma, by taking virtual classes from the comfort of their own homes. All FGA classes are real-time, live instruction, five days a week, on a full-time basis, just like any ordinary school. Click here for more info ->

Best Academy Gifted and Talented Program (aka Thomas Edison School of Fairfax) (K-2): in-person (subject to change to online format if guided by the CDC or the State of Virginia)

Best Academy’s GT Program (aka Thomas Edison School of Fairfax) is also a sister school of Best Academy, a committed part of the Washington Metropolitan community as one of the leading educational institutes teaching children for the past twenty-six years. With leadership from years of experience and expertise gained from operating Best Academy, and in partnership with the University of William & Mary’s Center for Gifted Education, Thomas Edison School of Fairfax opens its doors with the clear objective of providing unique classes and learning experiences, particularly catering to gifted and talented children. To comply with the CDC’s social distancing guideline, we are going to limit the maximum number of students per grade level to 4 (as opposed to 12 in ordinary times) for the 2020-2021 school year. Traditional Best Academy Enrichment Program: online

All of Best Academy’s enrichment classes will be offered online throughout the next school year. The class format will be equivalent to that of our online classes offered during the previous Spring semester, offered through real-time, live instruction after-school or on students’ off-days from their base schools. Students will be able to choose from diverse options that include Creative Writing, Book Club, Applied Math, GT English & Math, TJ Prep, SAT, Coding, etc. Click here for more info ->

Please feel free to contact us at any time for more information regarding each program. I personally welcome all parents to join our virtual open house for our fall programs on Mondays and Thursdays.

Again, let me express my sincere and deepest appreciation to all of our parents for entrusting us with their children.

All the best,

Matthew Lee, Ph.D.
